Preparing the Church for the Return of Jesus

Reaching home and the world for Jesus Christ

Teaching Ministry

My primary ministry is as a teacher in the Body of Christ. As such I see my mission summarized the the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:11-12:

And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, ...

Paul indicates in this passage that these ministries are actually people specifically gifted by Jesus and given to the Body of Christ.

I first began walking in the gifting in 1974 after receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. It was also about the same time that I was exposed to Creation Science for the first time. That began a time of intensive study on creation.

In July 1979 I resigned from the National Bureau of Standards (currently NIST) and moved with my family to a Port Republic, Virginia, which is just east of Harrisonburg.

For several years prior to that time I had been working with Bruce Mitchell and a retreat ministry he operated in Mt. Crawford called The Farm. With my arrival we launched a new teaching ministry which we called The Christian Teaching Center. It was there that I began to hone my gift and ministry as a teacher.

My teaching was primarily centered around my background as a scientist and study of creation. I developed and taught a seminar on Scientific Creation, and even participated in a Creation/Evolution debate with a geology professor from James Madison University.

In 1997 I asked Bruce Mitchell if he would be my pastor and give me apostolic oversight. After some prayer he agreed. To be in covenant relationship in that manner has brought a great deal of stability in my life and ministry.

Cross-Cultural Ministry

In recent years cross-cultural ministry has been a major emphasis for me. I made my first ministry trip, which was to southern Spain in July 1998 as part of a team from Cornerstone Church of Rockingham County, and that trip profoundly impacted both my life and ministry. (I have posted a copy of my journal from that trip here.)

That Fall Bruce Mitchell invited me to go with him the following February-March to several nations of Africa and ending with a week in Israel. That was certainly one of the most remarkable experiences/adventures of my life. In fact every one who was a part of the team could say the same thing. I wrote a detailed report of what happened on that trip which is posted here.

One of the men that was a part of the team we assembled in South Africa was Mark Hilhorst. Mark is an imposing young man (in his 30's) of Dutch descent with a great sense of humor and a gifting on his life of being an apostle. He also wrote a report on that trip, which is posted here.

Since then I have made seven additional ministry trips to 7 or 8 nations of Africa, as well as a trip to India with a another team from Cornerstone Church.

Another of the highlights from Africa occurred in 2000 when I participated in a conference in Nairobi, Kenya. Known as All Africa Conference 2000, it was sponsored by Rene Brown of Foundation Ministries and included men to whom Rene had a personal pastoral/apostolic relationship. All together there were about 200 attendees from 25 nations of Africa.

Current Ministry

The biggest part of my vision for now and the future is to help prepare the Body of Christ for His return. I have often declared that I will go anywhere to teach any number of people what I know about Christ's return without asking anything in return.

Presently I am an elder in the Church of Living Water in Harrisonburg, Virginia. My function includes helping with the pastoral functions and preaching on a regular basis.
