How This Came About

Dr. Daniel M. Sweger

I began a serious study of eschatology during a missions trip to Africa in 2001. Although I had been doing Bible teaching in a variety of settings he had never tackled the difficult task of understanding Biblical prophecy.

Part of the reason for that lay not in the fact that I had not read extensively on that subject, but that few authors agreed with each other.

Another problem concerned the popular idea, at least among many evangelicals, of the pre-tribulation rapture of the church. It just didn't seem reasonable that God would remove the believers prior to the tribulation when so many other believers had been martyred for their faith.

As I was sitting in the living room of some American missionaries in Malindi, Kenya I noticed a book laying on the coffee table: The Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church by Marvin Rosenthal. "Pre-wrath rapture" was a new term to me, and out of curiosity I picked it up and began reading.

Before long I sensed that there was real revelation here, and when I returned home I immediately ordered my own copy. Thus began my research.

As I continue my research I discovered another major work that also used the term pre-wrath rapture: The Sign: A Biblical Study of End-Time Events by Robert Van Kampen.

The more I studied and researched end-time prophecy the more revelation I received and the clearer it became. I also collected a lot of notes that I began to pull together in a coherent outline.

The following summer I was scheduled to teach a 2-week course on Ephesians at the People of Destiny Bible School just outside of Lusaka, Zambia. I also thought it would be interesting to conduct an evening "seminar" entitled "The Coming Day of the Lord", so I organized the material with handouts for the students. I did indeed teach the seminar--an hour and half each evening for eight nights. The following year I taught at the same school again, and again I taught the evening seminar in addition to the regular class.

When I returned home from Africa after the next year's ministry triop on July 4, 2004, I received word that the contract, of which I was a subcontractor, with one of the engineering groups at the Army's Picatinny Arsenal had been terminated. The company that was the prime contractor was sold, and the new owners did not want to pursue continuing the work.

Thus I had a lot of time on my hands. Thus a manuscript entitled The Coming Day of the Lord: Understanding the Prophecies About the Return of Jesus was written. Under the advice of my literary agent/author coach, I divided it into 2 manuscripts. Getting Ready: Preparing the Church for the Return of Jesus was the second, and the one submitted to Gazelle Press for publication.

As to the book Created in the Image of God, this was an outgrowth of my first mission trip. In the summer of 1998 I was a part of team that ministered in Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain. While there I kept a detaile journal of what I experienced. Those experiences led me to do more study, and the results of that endeavor, combined with my extensive study of creation science, led me to write the first part of what became the book. Later, after the experiences of my first trip to Africa and Israel the next year, I completed the manuscript.

I self publish/print both The Coming Day of the Lord and Created in the Image of God .

I pray these books will be a blessing to you.
