The Getting Ready Seminar

Preparing the Church for the Return of Jesus

Getting Ready: Preparing the Church of the Return of Jesus follows the text of the book of the same title.

The seminar is presented in five parts:

  • A short study of the prophetic scriptures centering around the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 24:3-31.
  • Being wise: Jesus' instructions to His disciples. These instructions are contained in the parables that Jesus told in Matthew 24:32-25:46, which were given for the benefit of believers facing the times and trials that He had just spoken about.
    • The Days of Noah
    • The Parable of the Thief
    • The Parable of the Wise and Evil Slaves
    • The Parable of the Ten Virgins
    • The Parable of the Talents
    • Sheep and Goats
  • Getting the church ready: Jesus' instructions to the church. The book of Revelation is the most detailed explanation of the events that will take place in the Last Days. It is God's plan for believers to be equipped and joined together with other believers, and Jesus dictates seven letters to the End Times church so that it would be prepared. Here we look at chapters 1-3 of Revelation, and specifically at the seven letters to the seven, or end-time, churches.
    • Revelation 1: The appearance of Jesus
    • Revelation 2, 3: The Seven Letters to the Seven Churches
  • Discerning the Times: This section seeks to get some insight into where we stand in God's plan and answer some questions: Is Israel the fulfillment of scripture? How close are we?
    • The Parable of the Fig Tree
    • Israel: the sign post
    • Israel: History and fulfillment of prophecy
  • The Challenge: What do we do now? What changes must we make? How are we going to respond to Jesus' command to "Be ready"?

We, as the church, need to have a new perspective, which is really the theme of this seminar. Jesus warned the church that it would go through a time of great tribulation prior to His return. According to Revelation 12:17 the tribulation period is the wrath of Satan, not the wrath of God, being expressed as Satan makes war against believers.

Thus, the tribulation is not a time to be avoided or dreaded, but rather a time for which we need to be prepared. Tribulation is never punishment for sin, but instead is always considered to be a blessing:

Blessed are you when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me. Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great. (Matthew 5:11-12)

The goal of the Getting Ready Seminar is to transform timid believers, unsure of the future, into confident, well-equipped believers who eagerly anticipate what God is going to do.

It is presented in a straightforward manner that can be understood by all. Click here to obtain more information.
